Program Development

Professor Saunders is currently the Senior Consulting Physician overseeing the Alcohol and Drug Programs of St John of God and Wesley private hospital groups.

He is committed to developing programs that combine state-of-the-art quality treatment for substance use and mental health disorders with pharmacotherapy and psychological therapy to achieve outcomes that include safe and effective cessation of harmful substance use and enhanced quality of life for the patient.

Program development services include:

  • Provision of advice on model outlines and facilitation and review of alcohol and drug treatment programs
  • Needs assessment including environmental scan
  • Summarising evidence-base for therapy and medical aspects of management
  • Conducting workshops for staff and key stakeholders
  • Developing programs that combine state-of-the-art treatment and therapies including self-help and family support approaches
  • Developing program content
  • Review and evaluation of programs
